Arsène Wenger’s admiration for Marouane Chamakh was an open secret throughout the latter months of the 2009/10 season.
The Arsenal manager finally got his man at the end of May 2010 and, in the first half of Marouane's debut season, we found out what the fuss was all about as he made his mark on the Premier League.
At Bordeaux, the Moroccan international built a reputation as a strong-running, intelligent centre forward. His contribution helped them to the French title and the latter stages of the Champions League.
His willing work-rate endeared him to the Arsenal supporters in the embryonic stages of his North London career. So did the goals. Expect him to reach a new level in his second season.
