Tony stepped up to work with the first team in 2010/11, having spent two seasons as Academy Goalkeeping Coach.

Working closely with Gerry Peyton and the squad’s goalkeepers, he is a hugely popular, positive figure around the training ground – as well as being a successful player in his own right.

Until this season, Tony fitted his Arsenal role around his playing commitments with Dagenham & Redbridge, but he brought a glittering playing career to an end in the summer.

He was a legend at the east London club, having represented them since 2000, and remains their record appearance maker.

He started out at QPR – and was in goal at Highbury when John Jensen famously scored his only goal for the Gunners. A year at Millwall and a coaching stint in America followed before his move to the Daggers.

Tony has represented Wales twice at senior level, and is the only goalkeeper ever to have scored in an FA Cup tie.
