Jonathan Hogg is a talented, energetic midfielder, who scored one of the best goals you are ever likely to see at Villa Park.
It came in a Reserve League South clash against Portsmouth towards the end of the 2008-09 campaign, when he smashed home a sweetly struck volley from outside the penalty area.
The goal signalled the Geordie was well and truly back after a cruciate knee ligament injury suffered in March 2007.
Hogg spent 11 months on the sidelines recovering and made two trips to America for treatment.
He cited Martin Laursen as a major influence during his rehabilitation, with the former skipper offering words of encouragement.
The midfielder came roaring back to finish joint top scorer for the second string.
If 2008-09 was about getting back on track, the youngster looked to further his development the following season.
He spent six weeks on loan at League Two side Darlington and marked his Football League debut with a goal in a 5-2 defeat against Chesterfield.
