Chris Eagles joined Bolton on the same day as Tyrone Mears as Owen Coyle made a double transfer swoop from Burnley.

Eagles, 25, arrived at the Reebok Stadium as an attack-minded midfielder who is capable of playing in wide and central areas and also has a knack of chipping in with his fair share of goals.

As a youngster, Eagles came through the ranks at Watford before joining Manchester United at the age of 14.

He progressed through to Sir Alex Ferguson's first team squads with loan spells at Sheffield Wednesday, Watford and NEC Nijmegan helping him along the way.

Eagles made his Manchester United debut in October 2003 against Leeds United, before scoring his first goal for the Reds in a 4-2 victory at Everton in 2007 - a result which more or less ensured Manchester United would win the Premier League title that season.

However, due to United's strength in depth, opportunities at Old Trafford were limited and Eagles joined Burnley in July 2008.

Working alongside Coyle, Eagles was a key member of the side that won promotion to the Premier League the following season via the play-offs and, indeed, he played his part in the Clarets' top-flight campaign in 2009/10.

Although Burnley were relegated, Eagles remained at Turf Moor the following season, where he scored 15 goals in all competitions as Burnley narrowly missed out on a play-off qualification spot.

After agreeing to join Bolton on a three-year deal, Eagles left Burnley having played 144 games and scored 25 goals.
