Rovers saw off fierce competition from a host of other clubs to bring this highly rated striker to the football club. Arriving in August 2011 for an undisclosed fee, signing a four-year-deal.

The Stirling-born player joined Dundee United as a schoolboy aged 14, becoming the club's youngest player to appear in a first team match a year later.

Signed his first professional contract in 2005 and soon after he made his senior debut against Rangers at Ibrox aged 16. Subsequently becoming the youngest player to score a goal in the SPL when he netted against Hibernian in March 2006.

The 2007-08 season saw the striker link up with Raith Rovers for a season-long loan deal, he would go onto score nine times in 23 appearances for the Kirkcaldy club.

The 2009-10 campaign saw Goodwillie claim a regular starting berth for the Tannadice club, netting 13 times that year, he bettered that feat last season when he scored 19 times from his 44 outings.

HIs impressive season resulted in the young striker winning the SPFA Young Player of the Season and the Scottish Football Writers Young Player of the Year awards.

On the international stage Goodwillie has represented Scotland at all levels from youth football through to the senior squad. The 22-year-old making his full senior debut for Scotland squad in November 2010 as a substitute against the Faroe Islands.

His first outing for Rovers saw him score less than ten minutes after his introduction as a second half substitute in the pre-season friendly match against Kilmarnock.
