Bulgarian international Martin Petrov joined Bolton Wanderers from Manchester City on a Bosman on July 1, 2010.
Petrov boasts a wealth of experience at the top level having played in the German Bundesliga with Wolfsburg, La Liga in Spain with Atletico Madrid and, most recently, in the Barclays Premier League with Manchester City.
Indeed, the winger had spent the three previous seasons at Eastlands, where he moved for a fee of £4.7m in July 2007.
He played an important part in Manchester City's achievements during that time, making 66 appearances and scoring 12 goals.
Petrov, who is renowned for possessing a venomous left-foot shot, is also a regular in the Bulgaria national side.
He has earned 77 caps since making his debut in 1999 and was part of the squad that reached the European Championships in 2004, where he scored against Italy.
That strike was one of 19 goals scored on the international stage.
In 2010/11, Petrov made 28 appearances for Bolton and scored goals against Manchester United, Tottenham and Blackpool.
